My Gear
Well, now that I have all (I hope) of the equipment I need; my little home brewery is all set. Time to rock and roll…
So, I have the ‘Two Stage‘ brewing system from eBrew.com (aka Alternative Beverage in Charlotte, NC). This contains everything you need to brew a nice, clear batch of home brew. With this kit, you get the following: Primary Fermenter w/spigot, grommeted lid, Airlock, Elastic Straining Bag, 36″ Bungy Cord, Floating Thermometer, Hydrometer, Bottle Filler, Bottling Tubing, Double Lever Capper, Bottle Caps, One-Step Sanitizer, Brewers’ Handbook, 5-gallon Glass Carboy, Carboy Brush, Buon Vida Stopper, Automatic Siphon, and finally Siphoning Tubing.
After buying the kit, I needed a kettle (which did not come with the kit above) and a recipe.
After doing some research, I realized that I needed a stainless steel pot. My aluminum turkey fryer pot was not going to cut it. So, after shopping around I decided to re-visit (for the 3rd time this week) my local home brew shop and pick up this 24 qt pot. It’s a stainless steel pot, they even threw in a lid
.
The beer recipe is supposed to be close to “Sierra Nevada’s Anniversary Ale“. I really like Sierra’s Nevada’s Beer and thought it’d be a good choice start off with. I’m familiar with this particular beer, so it will be interesting to see how ‘close’ I can get.
