New BetterBottle Secondary
Today I bought a new secondary for the brewery; I purchased a BetterBottle. It’s a plastic fermentation vessel (carboy). The bottle is not just a normal, plastic bottle. It’s strong, scuff resistant, easy to handle, and essentially unbreakable. Also, the plastic is a special PET, so it is non-absorbing, non-porous, and it will not carry over flavors from one batch of beer to the next.
This new 5 gallon carboy is about half the weight of my glass carboy. I filled it tonight when I racked my Black Stone Stout into it. I didn’t have to worry about breaking it and giving myself any glasserations
when I sanitized the carboy. So far, so good. We’ll see how it holds up in the long run…
